On a whim I walked in unannounced to Trufitness where I met Mary and started the 21 day free trial. I was hooked! I was literally getting personal training in a class setting and creating relationships with others who at one time had the same challenges. I was being taught the correct form & technique and over time understanding the terminology and the method Mary has to help us build overall strength.
Not gonna lie, there was total judgment and fear coming from inside my head every morning when I walked in at 6AM class especially when it came time for my 1st test date. I was scared to fail and look pitiful but the coaches and the tribe reminded me they all had their first test date and had the same feelings so I pulled it together and did the best I could.
As a teacher I know a thing or two about the value of consistency so I went to the gym 4-6 times a week.
Here’s the events that unfolded during this past year. Remember the extra midlife 20#? I got rid of it in a way I never thought possible! I actually learned a few things about my internal body by way of Mary’s “Cleanse the Palette” program, life changing! I eliminated inflammation, learned what foods serve my gut/brain health while building my own food pyramid and at the same time gained an obnoxious amount of lean muscle and here’s the kicker, I wasn’t on a DIET! NO more acid reflux or meds, sleeping better and the energy boost from the foods I eat and the training has led to running on purpose. I entered several 5K’s finishing the season with a tough 8 mile run and placed in my age division, #BAAM
I knew nutrition and exercise were key components to a healthy lifestyle but I’ve also learned the importance of needing a positive mindset. Totally challenging but with Mary’s help during our 1:1 sessions and the homework she gives during her fitness & health challenges are helping me through the failed attempts at the barbell rack and in life.
I want to share the growth I’ve had in 1 years time with strength training. As a woman it's tough to imagine growing muscle without turning into a beefy bodybuilder.
My 1st test date a year ago for my squat was 95lbs, today 155lbs. Deadlift 95lbs up to chest press from 70lbs to 90lbs, you guys anything is possible! Thank you to the Trufit team for believing in me and keeping me accountable and the tribe.
In 2020 I was now a little under a year and half postpartum with my twins. I’ll insert here→ I have 6 kids total. I was a stay at home Mom teaching Fti4Mom classes a couple times a week while trying to make it a priority to exercise myself. I’m a brand partner with an activewear company, Zyia, this led to a meeting with Mary, owner of Trufitness.
There were zero intentions of joining her gym. I was there to share some amazing activewear, make a new connection and hope she buys some items. As I was leaving she said, “I offer 21 days free training, would you be interested”? I thought, why not 3 weeks free? Who does that?!
I completed the trial and was hooked.
Trufitness is different, it's smaller, more intimate with a focus on personal training in a small group setting. Mary and Selena program in a way that if you stay consistent you’ll get stronger, leaner and purge the extra fluff while having fun. Seriously, this group of people I’ve met have literally become my extended family.
I didn’t consider myself completely novice. I mean it had been a hot minute since I was going to a gym regularly. Like most Women I usually gravitated towards HIIT circuits so when I showed up for Mary’s strength class I was super intimidated! I felt weak and unsure of what I was doing but in a short amount of time with her help and the help of the tribe I was seeing and feeling results. I must note, there’s never any judgment and no drama.
In the Fall of 2020 I joined one of Tru’s fitness & health challenges. I wasn’t necessarily looking to lose weight being a tall/lean person however I knew I felt sluggish and was hoping to gain some insights into what this cleanse was all about and why aren’t we dieting?!
Fast forward 2022 my health and body has taken on an amazing transformation! Mary’s cleanse taught me so much about my gut/brain health, what foods serve me well and I got answers to what ails me, meaning causes of bloating, fatigue and inflammation. Here’s the cool part, I’m NOT dieting, counting calories. This is me building my food pyramid and eating a ton of food that helps heal me and grow muscle.
A big part of Tru’s challenges is the homework. No, its not what you think. Mary is a lifestyle coach with extensive knowledge in self development, nutrition and wellness. One of the tools she uses to help us both with our mindset and health is handing us weekly assignments through podcasts, Ted Talks, and journaling. This has been so enlightening to the point I share this info with my family. It has also motivated me to start the first steps in becoming a fitness instructor.

I'm in my 70's, a Mom, Grandparent & still working. I've been an avid golfer for quite some time but knew I needed more in order to stay active in the game and life.
There are a few motivating factors that lead to meeting Mary in May of 2021. First, improve my golf game, 2nd, stay ahead of the aging process, 3rd, not have to drive an electric cart in the grocery store and last, not become a burden to my family but inspire them with my amazing strength.
Trufitness is different, they take into account my age, my fitness level and any injuries and work the program around my needs.
The philosophy is simple, they teach you how to exercise with proper form and technique and challenge your mind & body. Mary has created a nutrition program, "cleanse the palette" an elimination process that focuses on our gut/brain health while eliminating inflammation.
During the last 12 months I have lost over 10lbs, dropped my visceral and subcutaneous fat 3 points and lost a total of 15 inches. The best part is that I trust myself to move through life with balance and ease and if should fall my body is strong enough to withstand it and not have to reach for the call button!
I joined TruFitness in November 2023, after hitting an all time low in all aspects of my health. My weight and blood pressure were at all time highs. I was suffering from reoccurring eczema and other inflammatory markers. My pill box was overflowing with prescription medications. I was simply existing, taking up space; I felt like I was failing in all aspects of life and I had pretty much given up. Joining the TruFitness Tribe was going to be my final attempt at getting my health back on track. I was that close to giving up and just settling for the aches and pains. Thankfully, I joined just in time to take part in the New Year’s “Cleanse the Palette” Challenge that began on January 8. I did not have much faith in my ability to follow through, and winning was not even on my mind. I just needed some added accountability in my life to stay on track. This six week challenge ended up being life changing for me. The education, the community, the sisterhood, and the mentoring that came out of this experience was beyond anything I expected. Within the first two weeks, I noticed so many positive changes. I felt stronger, happier, and as Coach Katie called it, I began to fall in love with myself again. As my body transformed, my mind transformed. My fear and self-doubt began to melt away. By the end of the six weeks, my blood pressure was under control, my inflammation was pretty much non-existent, and I no longer felt disgusted with the person I saw in the mirror. I may have lost 18+ pounds and over 14 inches, but it is not what I lost, but rather what I gained through this process. I gained strength, self-confidence, courage, and self-worth. My whole mindset shifted. I am so thankful I decided to make one last attempt at changing my life, and I am so grateful that TruFitness is the community that allowed me to change the story I was telling myself. My story is just beginning.
I visited on a whim with a friend and left contemplating the 21 days for $21 offer which evolved into a year-long commitment that is still going. The most profound impact has been on my mindset. Prioritizing overall well-being over just a number on the scale has been a revelation. Shedding 30 pounds is just part of the story- dropping pant size, increasing strength, and skills like lifting a barbell have shown me what my body is truly capable of. Through participating in challenges and delving into nutrition, I’ve not only honed my physical abilities but also cultivated a deeper understanding of holistic health. On tough days, the gym has become my sanctuary, where I can recalibrate my mind and body. Joining this tribe has opened my eyes to a world of possibilities and self discovery, reminding me that the journey towards wellness is so much more as well as making me realize what I was missing in my life.
Never a dull moment in the gym w/this guy. Within the last 6 mo. Matt Prioritized strength training, included self-development, and shifted his mindset. watching Matt increase his 1 RM across-the-board is awesome however, watching the change in his posture, and confidence is what matters most!
The past 2 years have been an amazing journey and TruFitness has been an integral part. I was tired of how I was feeling, what I was eating and only focusing on cardio with my workouts. Mary helped motivate me in the past to make changes but I’ve learned on this journey that you have to be the one who makes the changes necessary to accomplish what you want in life. It was MY time to make this happen for ME and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
A healthy combination of changes in my diet, strength training and a healthy does of discipline/consistency have me at the healthiest I’ve been probably since I was in my teenage years. Mary’s been an amazing coach, helped push past my limits and I’ve achieved lifts I never thought I could. 300lb deadlift and 205lb back squats are what I’m most proud of.
My wife who has been a member and has known Mary for several years. The family atmosphere is amazing. Our son Connor has been training with Coach mary, sports specific programs to help develop a strong foundation.

Our athlete, Connor, set a clear goal for himself: to get faster and enhance his performance on the baseball field. Under the expert guidance of Coach Mary, he embarked on a rigorous and multifaceted training regimen designed to push his limits and achieve his objectives.
Coach Mary crafted a comprehensive training program that integrated stability, coordination, plyometrics, endurance, and strength training. This layered approach was instrumental in helping Connor excel in all aspects of baseball, from pitching and batting to running the bases.
The journey wasn't just about the end goal but the meticulous process of getting there. Through repetitive exercises and gradually increasing resistance, Connor's body adapted, becoming stronger and more agile. By consistently challenging his central nervous system, he developed better reactivity and overall athleticism.
This detailed and disciplined approach to training has not only made Connor a faster and more efficient player but has also contributed to his overall health and fitness. His story is a powerful reminder that with the right guidance and unwavering commitment, achieving one's athletic goals is within reach.
For 18 years, as my family was navigating my daughter's journey with Autism, prioritizing myself and doing any sort of self-care was not something I could imagine and not an option for so long. My daughter needed all of me, and of course as a parent, we give all of ourselves to our children when they need us the most.
I think it was 2017 when my husband joined TruFit and after meeting Mary, he came to me and plugged into my ear "I think she would be a great person to add to Brooke's team, can you talk with her and see if she can do some training with Brooke". And that's how it all started. Our daughter started working 1:1 with Mary, and after much coaxing from Mary and my husband, I joined TruFitness in 2021, I knew it was time to invest in me for the long haul.
When I started, I was living in an inflamed and stressed out body. I did not exercise, had unhealthy metabolic markers, and pretty overweight. I knew I had a lot of work ahead of me but I was ready. I started by "scheduling" my times for the gym. My life was scheduled minute-to-minute, and I had to block on my calendar for it to happen consistently. I knew consistency was going to be my mantra, if this was going to happen for me. I started with 7am Saturday bootcamps and evening strength times. It was so hard in the beginning, but then I could slowly start to feel things getting easier. Then I did a Coach Holly kickboxing class, and I was hooked. The ability to let stress exert into power energy was exhilarating! Coach Holly is an amazing and supportive coach! With the help of all the coaches, teaching form and empowering you to push harder and not let your own limitations said in your head be a barrier, I started to feel more confident. With the coaches help, in helping me learn so much about myself, I started doing more types of classes and I became addicted to the process of becoming a better version of myself.
Mary turned me on to some podcasts with some health/fitness experts (including her own!), and I have not looked back. I grew to LOVE to absorb so much about fitness, wellness, and longevity, through Mary's passion in sharing her knowledge and smarts with her tribe. Her passion became infectious.
I joined a couple of challenges, Coach Mary's Cleanse the Pallet, and Coach Holly's Kickboxing Challenge (2x), and they both helped catapult the results I have gotten over the 3 years at Tru. With no "fad" diets, no restriction of food enjoyment, I have lost 20lbs, 6% body fat, gained skeletal muscle, etc. Do I have a set of next goals? Of course, and I know with the help of the coaches at Tru, I will get there too. But as important, is what the coaches have taught me about myself, the friendships with the tribe, and how much I do have it within me to battle your fears, overcome mindset obstacles, and how age is not a limitation.
I turn into a new decade (60's) in a couple months, and in this other half of the circle of life, there will be no shortage of learning, growing, and aging powerfully with my TruTribe!
